    NBRC invites applications for JRF/SRF lAST DATE: 25/09/2013

    NATIONAL BRAIN RESEARCH CENTRE (NBRC), Manesar-122 051, Gurgaon, requires a “JRF / SRF” in a project funded by Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance.

    Applications are invited for JRF/SRF position(s) to work on an India Alliance grant on Auditory Processing. The applicants must be highly motivated towards research in Neuroscience and must possess a great deal of interest in computational aspects of neuronal processing. The research work to be performed by the selected candidate(s) will involve one or more of the following: neurophysiology, neuroanatomy and computation. Further selected candidates are expected to apply to the PhD program in Neuroscience at NBRC.

    Title of the Project: Connectivity and role of inhibitory neurons in auditory perception

    Number of Vacancies: 1 (JRF / SRF) (The vacancies number may vary)

    Essential Qualification:
    For JRF: Masters degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Neuroscience or any related subject, OR 4-years Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science or B.Stat.(from Indian Statistical Institute).
    For SRF: Same as JRF + 2 Years Post Qualification Experience
    Desirable requirements: Preference will be given to candidates with previous research experience especially in electrophysiology and neuroanatomy.

    Emoluments:
    For JRF: ` 16,000/- per month (consolidated)
    For SRF: ` 18,000/- per month (consolidated)
    (Additionally based on performance funding is available for extra training / classes in specialized schools (for example CSHL or MBL classes) across the world and for travel to international Meetings/Conferences, based on performance and abstract acceptance.)

    Duration : The tenure will be for a period of 1 year and extendable on annual performance review and on mutual agreement. The post is co-terminus with the project. The selected candidate should abide by the rules and regulations of Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance and NBRC.

    Accommodation : Shared Accommodation in the hostel may be provided as per rules of NBRC and as per availability in the Hostel at NBRC Campus, Manesar. Only candidates that are found suitable by the screening committee will be called for the interview.
